General Info

Yayoiken Yotsuya 2-Chome is a Syokudo and Teishoku-style restaurant located in Japan, 〒160-0004 Tokyo, Shinjuku City, Yotsuya, 2 Chome−10−5 八ツ橋ビル 1F. It sits in a busy urban pocket where office workers and local visitors often look for a reliable place to enjoy a balanced Japanese set meal. The overall impression of the location is practical and straightforward, matching the fast-paced rhythm of Yotsuya while still offering a comfortable space to sit down for lunch.

As a teishoku-focused diner, the menu structure is built around set meals that combine rice, miso soup, and main dishes, which makes ordering simple and efficient. One of the most talked-about items is the チキン南蛮定食 (chicken nanban set meal), known for its crispy fried chicken topped with a tangy sauce that pairs well with rice. Another standout is the すき焼き定食 (sukiyaki set meal), offering a warm and savory hot-pot style experience that feels especially satisfying during cooler days. For those who prefer seafood, the サバの塩焼定食 (salt-grilled mackerel set) brings a lightly charred, umami-rich flavor that is both simple and deeply traditional.

There is also the 鶏生姜鍋 これは旨い (ginger chicken hot pot “this is delicious”), which leans into a comforting, home-style taste profile, and the 肉野菜炒め定食 (stir-fried pork and vegetables set), which balances protein and greens in a straightforward, hearty portion. Together, these menu options reflect a strong focus on everyday Japanese comfort food rather than complex or overly refined cuisine.

In terms of services, the restaurant provides lunch service, alcohol options, and restroom facilities, which makes it convenient for both quick meals and slightly longer breaks. However, it is important to note that there is no wheelchair accessible seating and reservations are not accepted, so seating is typically handled on a walk-in basis. This setup reinforces its casual, everyday dining identity rather than a formal booking-based restaurant model.

The atmosphere inside Yayoiken Yotsuya 2-Chome feels functional and unpretentious, with a layout designed for efficient dining turnover. Reviews often highlight its consistency and reliability rather than luxury or ambiance, making it a dependable choice for regular meals. The location advantage in Shinjuku City also means it is easily accessible for commuters and nearby workers looking for a quick yet complete set meal experience.

Overall, the restaurant’s strength lies in its structured menu, predictable quality, and accessible lunch-focused service style, making it a familiar stop for anyone in the Yotsuya area seeking traditional Japanese teishoku dining.

What customers say?

“ If your hungry, definitely go here at Yayoiken. They have unli rice and the food is great. The food actually taste okay. If you want something that will fill you up, definitely go here. When I got the Katsudon with Ebi Fry, the ebi fry's sauce was really nice. The miso is great as well because it was rainy when we came here. The ordering method is easy since you'll just have to order in the machine in front. Other things were self service. Definitely recommended if you are hungry. But if you are looking for a gourmet like food, you have to look else where. Overall, it is recommended. ”

“ Value for money: 8 of 10 (but if you are heavy on rice, this might become 9.5 of 10 because of the refillable rice)... Taste: 8 of 10. It's good but not that unique. Service: Nothing much to be said because you can order through the kiosk then most of what you will need like condiments or cutleries are available outside the counter. For a foreigner like me, it's more convenient. ”

“ Must try resto in the Yotsuya district, we ate here after going to Suga Shrine. Offers bento meals with free rice refills, they also have individual cubicles so that you can concentrate eating the delicious food that you ordered! ”
